| Join us in hoisting national flag in State, Soz to BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
srinagar, Jan 23: Urging the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) to desist from hoisting the national flag at Lal Chowk on Republic Day, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Prof Saifuddin Soz today said this action could be perceived by some elements as a provocation which should be avoided.
In a statement here this afternoon the former Union minister said that Republic Day would be celebrated as usual in the entire Jammu and Kashmir.
The national flag will be hoisted at Moulana Azad stadium in Jammu, Bakshi stadium in Jammu besides at all district and tehsil headquarters in the state, he said.
Soz said the BJP leaders and cadres would naturally be welcome to join the celebrations wherever the flag hoisting ceremony will be held.
The BJP must however, desist from hoisting flag at Lal Chowk as action might be perceived by some elements as a provocation which should be avoided, Prof Soz said in the statement.
"I therefore strongly urge the BJP leadership not to adopt a course of action that can invite unsavory reaction and acrimony, he added. |
