Reliance launches 3G services in J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 24: Reliance Communication (RCOM), India’s leading telecom service provider today announced the launch of Reliance 3G Services in the state . The service was launched by Ataul Haque, Circle Head, Wireless Business (J&K). Speaking on the occasion, Haque said that Reliance Communications (RCOM) is India’s single largest dual technology telecom operator and first to launch service in the state. He said that 3G services will offer features such as video-calling, mobile TV, video streaming and applications access at super-fast speeds on a wide variety of both mobile phone and personal computing devices. “The launch of service is an integral part of our vision 2015 of creating a wire free Jammu and Kashmir built upon the affordable 3G for all platforms. Personalization of services, simplification of tariffs and a content rich portfolio on the best in class service”, Haque. “It has customized many attractive plans especially for the people of J&K to bring people living here closer to other parts of India. He said that the Reliance Communication is going to provide employment to the youth of J&K. Hundreds of youth is already working with them and with the establishment of additional infrastructure more youth would get employment. “The company has done a deal with Universal Music for content, Nokia and Ericsson for applications and Motricity for web portal. The existing subscribers will be automatically upgraded to 3G services if they have a 3G-enabled smart phone”, he said. Haque disclosed that RCOM will be launching its services across 13 telecom circles, where it holds 3G licenses by the end of 2010-11 fiscal. “Reliance 3G services will offer the widest bouquet of cutting edge services including Video Calling, Mobile TV, Video Streaming and Applications accessed at superfast speeds ubiquitously on a variety of Mobile and Personal computing devices”, said Prashant Gokarn, 3G Head – Reliance Communications. Earlier in May 2010 RCOM emerged as the winner in 13 key telecom circles during the 3G auction including the key metros of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Company holds licenses in the telecom circles of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkota, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madya Pradesh, West Bengal, Himanchal Pradesh, Bihar, North East, Jammu and Kashmir, Orrisa and Assam.
