ABS supports Ekta yatra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 24: Arora Bans Sabha (ABS) president Ramesh Arora has said that flag hoisting in any part of the country, including Lal Chowk in Srinagar is a matter of pride for every citizen of India as it is symbol of national respect and represents the spirit of freedom struggle. Addressing a joint press conference in which more than 48 organizations, including traders, different societies and associations participated, Arora said that Supreme Court categorically allowed and endorsed the right of a common citizen to hoist tri-colour anywhere in the country few years back. ‘Stopping of his hoisting is contempt and amounts to disrespect the symbol nationalism”, he said. Arora said that if government will stop hoisting flag at Lal Chowk it would discourage nationalist forces and at the same time it will boost the morale of anti-national and separatist elements. ‘It is very strange that while no action is taken against the people who hoist Pakistani flags on Lal Chowk but repressive measures are being used against those who want to unfurl the tri-colour. Arora said, “We cannot afford to give signal to separatist and Pakistan that Lal Chowk is beyond the reach of nationalist and government is committed fulfill this agenda’, he mentioned. Those who spoke on the occasion include Shakti Sharma, S.P Arora, K.K. Arora, Gurmeet Singh, Satvir Singh, Vijay Grover, Avtar Krishan, Surinder Sharma, Jagmohan Khanna, Vijay Tarhen and Kuldeep Kumar.
