PHE employees to go on 72-hr strike from Feb 15 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 24: PHE Employees and Workers Welfare Association have decided to gon on 72 hours “Kaam Chodo Hartal’ from February 15. The call given by the PHE Employees United Front. Addressing a press conference Rattan Doshi, president of the association said that the PHE employees and workers have been struggling for their rights from last many years but successive state governments have just befooled them. He said that time and again, the association has brought to the notice of the Govt and authorities the genuine demands of the employees but nothing has been done in this regard. “In fact just assurances have been given to us and our genuine demands have been ignored by the administration”, he alleged. It is pertinent to mention here that PHE workers are demanding regularization of daily wagers who have completed their 7 years in the light of SRO 62 of 1994, uniform rate of wages to all daily-rated labourers, release of remaining 1 ½ days gratia pay to the permanent employees. Besides, the employees were demanding technical higher pay scales as already given to the employees as per SRO-149 of 1973. They are also demanding regularization of all ITI and Non ITI daily rated, consolidated and need base workers who have completed 5 years of tenure, new vehicles. Another major demand is the transfer of 4th class employees should be made at section level instead of Sub Divisional Level. Kewel Krishan Verma, general secretary of the association speaking on the occasion appealed the employees to observed complete shutdown if Govt fails to concede their demands by February 14. Among others who were present in the press conference included Vinok Tak, Sanjay Bali, Ravi Bhat, Dev Raj, Somi Kumar, Tara Chand, Sawarn Kumar, Tilak Raj, Jasvinder Singh Jamwal, Gopal Singh, Puran Chand, Subesh Phadha, Raj Kumar and others.
