Need to hold regular workshops for settlement staff: Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 24: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has said that Revenue Department has witnessed revolutionary change in 24-month period of coalition Government adding settlement operations have been expedited across the State for early accomplishment of this mega task. He said there is a need to hold regular training camps and workshops for the staff involved in the settlement operation across the state. Minister was chairing a review meeting of Revenue and Settlement Officers, here today. Bhalla asked the officers to place trained settlement assistants, chain-men, prism-men for early measurement/khasra paimaish adding that the training of more staff has also become important due to introduction of modern technology in the settlement operations. He said there is a need for holding training programs, includingworkshops and capsule courses both within and outside the State. Healso called for organizing awareness tours of the concerned officials to those states who have already completed the process of settlement operations on modern lines like Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka to enrich knowledge and experience about projects like Bhoomi etc. He said computerization of revenue record is under progress, adding that with the completion of computerization of the records the people would able to trace their desired records without any inconvenience. He said the department is also distributing revenue passbooks to farmers containing all records pertaining to their land to ensure transparency at grass root level.
