JKKT seeks compensation against land acquisition for CU-K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 25: Jammu Kashmir Kissan Tehreek (JKKT) has sought payment of adequate compensation to those whose land was acquired to establish Central University-Kashmir (CU-K) at Ganderbal beside jobs in the varsity for affected families. The demand was raised in the working committee meeting of Tehreek held today at Anantnag which was presided over by the senior leader of the organization Comrade Ab Khaliq Rather. In the meeting, various resolutions pertaining to farmers were moved and passed including representation to Kissan organizations in J and K Kissan Board and decontrolling of urea which is bound to hit the interests of the farmers. Gh Nabi Malik, Secretary J and K Kissan Tehreek while addressing the meeting demanded that farmers despite being backbone of the society have been facing apathy from the government. He demanded that concrete steps should be taken at all levels to safeguard the interest of the farming community. Agriculture despite being primary sector of our economy has been deprived over the years, he said adding that huge budgetary support need to be ear-marked for the sector on priority basis.
