| Corps of signal gives scintillating performance at Udhampur | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | JULY 28 The Corps of Signals Pipes and Drums band a scintillating performance at Udhampur garrison on 27 July 2006 in front of a jam packed audience. Brigadier Rajendran Kumar, Officiating Chief Signal Office, Northern Command was the Chief Guest of the function. The band Marched on Marshall Tunes followed by Indian folk tunes and finally the drummers gave a dazzling performance with their drums. The Corps of Signals Pipes and Drums band was created from a nucleus of Right Buglers of Sappers and Miners who formed part of the original complement of personnel of the 31st ,33rd and 34th Divisional Signal Company. Some of those could also play the pipes and were used as pipers during 1921-26. No establishment for the band as such existed at that time. Colonel EFW Barker, Commandant Signals Training Centre (India) pursued the matter and as result of his efforts the Corps of Signals Pipes Band was formed in early 1927. The band is a source of pride for Corps of Signals personnel. The drummers participated in Army Day Parade and Republic Day Parade at New Delhi during 1986,1988,1999,2001 & 2004. The show at Udhampur was organized by the Northern Command Signal regiment.
