BJP indulging in political gimmickry: Omar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT jammu, Jan 25: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the maintenance of law and order in the state is his responsibility and prime concern of his government adding that all measures whatsoever required to maintain peace and order in the state would be put in place and some times tough decisions have to be taken. Talking to a National News Channel here today on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that there will be no compromise on law and order maintenance, maintaining his firm determination to foil every attempt aimed at disturbing peace in the state. Omar congratulated the people for exhibiting highest degree of prudence and responsibility by not falling prey to the politics of emotional blackmail over the flag hoisting issue. "We are limping back to normalcy after a five months long law and order situation during last summer in the valley", he said and asserted that he as the head of the state has to design and ensure calm and tranquility for the larger interests of the state. The Chief Minister termed Tringa Yatra of BJP as a political gimmick and questioned as to why when in power the party never felt the need of hoisting national flag in Lal Chowk. "They also showed no interest in such an activity since 1992 when Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi unfurled the national flag at Lal Chowk and that too upside down in a tight security bandobast". He took a dig on BJP and narrated the history to substantiate the inconsistent behaviour of the party viz a viz Jammu and Kashmir. Questioning BJP's attempt of creating law and order problem in the state at a crucial juncture when the stage is set to address political issues, Omar Abdullah said 'we are not in a normal situation we have to be cautious and careful and be wary of any mischief in the garb of any situation. A single spark could put the entire house on fire', he asserted. The Chief Minister asked as to why no BJP leader from Jammu or Delhi showed any inclination to hoist national flag in Chastigarh where more people have died in naxalite actions than in the valley in the recent times. "BJP is utilizing an abnormal situation in the valley to thrive upon and carry forward its agenda of divisive policy for vote bank politics and petty political gains". Omar Abdullah said that his government's determination to maintain law and order and foil every design aimed at vitiating the peace either by the separatists or by political mainstream party is categorical and firm. Chief Minister expressed the hope that better sense will prevail in the leadership of BJP and it would act like a responsible political party. He advised the party to read between the lines and understand how people of Jammu & Kashmir have rejected their tactics of emotional blackmailing. "We see normal Jammu and normal Srinagar on the eve of Republic Day", he said and congratulated the people for maintaining peace and helping the government to keep the situation under control. Omar Abdullah said that tri-colour would be unfurled across the state on January 26 and invited BJP leaders to be part of the celebrations being organized in every district, tehsil and block of the state in connection with flag hoisting. In reply to a question about the demand of BJP for abrogation of article 370, Omar Abdullah said that there are so many law luminaries in BJP and they should explain to the people about the logic of the article and the implications of its revocation in the honest perspective and not just raise hollow slogans in this regard to mislead the people. |
