R-Day celebrated with patriotic fervour across Jammu region | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT kathua, Jan 26: The Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, patriotic zeal and national fervor here. The main function was held at District Police lines, Kathua where Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand hoisted the tri- color and took a salute at a mega parade comprising 47 contingents drawn from CRPF, District Police Men/Women, Police Training School, NCC, Forest Protection Force and tiny platoons from various Government as well as private institutions . Addressing the mass gathering, Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand recalled the sacrifices of the great martyrs who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle. Tara Chand paid tributes to great freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi who brought all the people irrespective of caste, colour, creed and language together for achieving independence. Tara Chand thanked the central government for generously funding the state. The Deputy Chief Minister also lauded the Army and para military forces for protecting the country. "Our duty is to protect and safeguard the hard won independence by remaining vigilant against the nefarious designs of the anti- national and anti- social elements and to work untiringly towards national development", he added. Students of various schools presented colorful cultural programme and displayed physical exercises on the occasion. Among others present on the occasion included, Member Parliament, Doda- Udhampur parliamentary Constituency, Ch. Lal Singh, MLA, Kathua, Charanjit Singh, Ex- Minister Babu Singh, MLC, Subash Gupta, District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Zahida Parveen Khan, SSP Kathua and J.L. Sharma, ADC, Rohit Khajuria, District heads of various departments, prominent citizens and freedom fighters. Republic Day was also celebrated at Tehsil Headquarters with great patriotic zeal. RAMBAN: The 62nd Republic Day was celebrated with traditional fervor, gaiety and enthusiasm at district headquarters here where Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla unfurled the tri-colour and took salute at the march past of contingents of CRPF, JKP, IRP, NCC, Forest Protection Force and schools students. Addressing the huge gathering, Bhalla recalled the sacrifices of the great leaders including Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Chander Shekhar Azad, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Pt. Jawahar Nehru, Subash Chander Bose, Liquat Ali Khan, Moti Lal Nehru, Govind Ballabah Pant and others. He said they sacrificed their lives for nation while fighting the cause of people. He conveyed his special greetings to the para-military forces, guarding the frontiers besides rendering remarkable assistance during the turmoil and natural calamities in the State. While highlighting the importance of the Day, the Minister said the formation of the Republic on January 26, 1950 was the first milestone in our march to achieve the heights of development on all fronts and to realize the dream of a biggest secular democratic country in the world. He said the constitution gave expression to the goals, ideals and values that guided our freedom fighters. It laid foundation of the structure of governance and committed to secure justice, liberty and equality as well as dignity for all citizens. The Minister also paid homage to the personnel of security forces including Army, Central and State Police who offered supreme sacrifice of their precious lives to safeguard the frontiers of the country and fighting against the militancy in the State. MLA Ramban, Ashok Kumar, District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Shabir Ahmad Bhat, DIG, Ramban, Munish Kumar, SP, Anil Mogotra, ADC, Ajay Singh Jamwal, Prominent personalities besides senior officers of civil, army and police administration were present on the occasion. POONCH: Minister for Medical, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports Rajinder Singh Chib hoisted National Flag and took salute at the marchpast of 40 contingents of District Police, Auxiliary Police, Ex-Serviceman, NCC and of school students. Soon after followed by presentation of colorful cultural programmes by school children. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said constitution of India has secular soul and character which would be kept aloof at all costs by maintaining unity in diversity. Chib commemorated sacrifices of freedom fighters of India who launched the freedom struggle under the stewardship of Mahatma Gandhi (Father of Nation) preaching non-violence. He said after a long bloody struggle nation got freedom from foreign rule in 1947. Soon after Constituent Assembly was constituted headed by Dr Bhim Rao Ambedhkar who adopted world's largest constitution, which enshrined fundamental rights to all citizens of India irrespective of religion, caste colour, region and creed, he added. Chib, who is also chairman of District Development Board, Poonch, said a remarkable development has been achieved in the District during the past two years. He said Rs 88 crores have been earmarked under District Plan for current fiscal year for the District besides crores of funds have been provided for implementation of centrally sponsored schemes like MGNREGA, PMGSY, IAY, BADP, BRGF and others. MLA Poonch Ajaz Ahmed Jan unfurled tricolour at Tehsil Hqrs. Mandi whereas SDM at Tehsil Hqrs. Mendhar and local Tehsildar at Tehsil Hqrs. Surankote. Thousands of people participated in these functions. Army commanders posted at the LOCs of the District also hoisted the national flag at their respective places of posting where school children presented cultural programmes. MLA, MLC Poonch Ajaz Ahmed Jan and Mir Jahangir Hussain respectively, DDC, SSP, prominent citizens, officers of the District Administration, school children and thousands of locals participated in the main function held at District Headquarter. UDHAMPUR: The 62nd Republic Day was celebrated with gaiety, enthusiasm and national spirit at district, Tehsil and Block level, educational institutions, Trade Unions and people affiliated to different political and social organizations in here today. The main function was held in the premises of PG Degree College, Udhampur where the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora hoisted the National flag and took salute at an impressive march past presented by 49 contingents drawn from Police, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, NCC Boys and Girls and government and private educational institutions. Congratulating mammoth gathering who had turned up at the venue of Republic Day function, the Minister said the Constitution of independent India came into existence on this day in 1950 which provides equal fundamental rights to every citizen of the country irrespective of any caste, creed, colour or religion. The public in general have the important role in maintaining unity in diversity and help boosting developmental activities to usher in an era of prosperity in every field, he maintained. MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Director SKPA, Ashok Gupta, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Jagjit Kumar, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Baseer Ahmed Khan, DIG (STC) BSF, Asif Ali, SSP Udhampur, Surinder Gupta, District Officers, prominent citizens, students and people in large number were present on the occasion. DODA: Republic Day celebrated in Doda with great enthusiasm and fervor. Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma was the chief guest who unfurled the tricolor and took salute at the march past. MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani, MLC, Khalid Najib Sohrawardy, DDC Doda Farooq Ahmed Khan, SP Hq. Doda Arif Reshu and senior officers Army, CRPF, and other Paramilitary Forces besides a huge gathering of people attended the Republic Day celebrations. For improving the health care services in each and every part of the state, the Minister announced a new scheme for pregnant women and children called "Maa Tuje Salaam" which provides free hospital services to all pregnant women and children upto age of 5 years. He said under this scheme no user charges will be taken from the pregnant women and children upto 5 years of age in all Government Health care Institutions of the State providing primary and secondary healthcare ( Sub Centres , PHC's CHC's and District Hospitals). The Minister said that upto 2 lakh pregnant women and 22 lakh children will be benefitted every year by the scheme. He said free entitlement of services will be for OPD / Indoor registration and all investigations carried out in the Government hospitals for the pregnant women and children. The Minister said to strengthen the healthcare delivery system and to provide better healthcare to the people at their doorsteps, honorarium for ASHA's have also been increased from Rs. 1400 to Rs. 2250. At Bhaderwah, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Bhaderwah, Kalyan Singh hoisted the tricolor and took salute of the march past. SDM Gandoh Shabir Ahmed Keen hoisted the tricolor and took salute on the march past. A huge and enthusiastic gathering attended the celebrations at these places. KISHTWAR: Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Abdul Gani Malik hoisted the National Flag at Kishtwar and took salute at the march-past comprising contingents of CRPF, CISF, JKAP, JKP, Forest protection Force, NCC, cadets of GDC, HSS Kishtwar and students of Government and private schools. Addressing the gathering, the Minister stressed upon people to maintain the traditional brotherhood, peace and amity and not be swayed by the false slogans of the divisive forces who are hell bent to create fissures among the peace loving people of the state. Tracing the history of the Indian constitution and its secular character, the Minister paid rich tributes to the architect of Indian constitution B. R. Ambedkar who accomplished the daunting task of framing the most voluminous constitution which was promulgated on this day in 1950 laying the basis of world's largest democratic country. A colourful cultural programme was also presented by school children which was appreciated by the gathering on the occasion. MLA, Kishtwar, Sajad Ahmad Kitchloo, CO, 9 sector Army, prominent citizens, political social workers, all district officers besides hundreds of people witnessed the function. Republic Day was also celebrated at Tehsil Headquarters of Padder, Marwah and Chhatroo where Tehsildars unfurled the tri-colour and presided over the functions. |
