State Sport Climbing Committee formed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 26: With an aim to promote the game of Sport Climbing at the grass root level and to elevate the professional standard of the game, the J&K State Sport Climbing Committee was formed today. Prof. Lalit Magotra, a prominent literary figure and a renowned adventure sports promoter was unanimously elected as the founder president while, Dr CK Khajuria, former general secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K and a qualified Sport climbing Judge, was elected as the general secretary of the organization. Other office bearers elected are vice president, Anil Choudhary, Director MNDP School; joint secretary, Dr Sonam Angchuk and treasurer, Shawetica Khajuria, a sport climbing Judge. The executive members include Arti Sharma, Director Sprawling Buds School, Khurshid Ahmad (Anantnag), MD Naqqash (Srinagar), Vivek Chauhan, Vice Principal, Oriental Academy and Akshit Mahajan, a national medallist of the game. While addressing the members Prof. Magotra disclosed that the Committee would soon organize training camps for climbers, route setters, belayers, judges and other technical personnel. The committee shall also hold competitions and sponsor deserving climbers to other parts of the country and even outside the country for necessary exposure on international standard climbing walls besides inviting eminent national and international climbers and technical experts for demonstration and training. Prominent among others present on the occasion included Sumant Singh Jamwal, president Tawi Trekkers, J&K, Ram Khajuria, general secretary, Mountaineering Association of J&K, Sumit Khajuria, a senior mountaineer of J&K and Rahul Sharma. |
