Kashmir shivers overnight; Kargil records minus 20

SRINAGAR, Jan 26: An icy spell was cast over Kashmir where Ladakh region was gripped by intense cold wave conditions with Kargil town settling at 20 degrees below freezing point overnight.
The minimum temperature in Kargil was minus 20.2 deg Celsius while Leh settled for a low of minus 18.4 deg C, a MET department official said.
Pahalgam in south Kashmir was the coldest in the Valley with mercury there settling at minus 8.7 deg C.
Srinagar city witnessed a slightly colder night at minus 4.4 deg C, an increase of 0.2 deg than yesterday.
Qazigund froze at minus 6.4 deg C while night temperature in Kokernag town in south Kashmir was minus 3.7 deg C.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.7 deg C.
