EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 26: It is now clear that moves are afoot to facilitate the task of those who hate the national flag and wish to split India once again on communal lines. The Prime Minister, the Home Minister, the Governor, the Chief Minister and who not who matters in Kashmir and New Delhi are all one and against those who wish to exercise their sovereign right to hoist national flag in Srinagar and show those their rightful place who challenge the very accession of the state with India using the floor of the assembly. They are all one. They have expressed their solidarity with the separatists in their own way and told the world that the hoisting of national flag in Srinagar is a sin. In other words, they have cleared all the cobwebs of confusion and told the nation, even the international community, that Kashmir is not part of India or that Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of partition.
It was no wonder than that the Government of India appointed the likes of Dileep Padgaonkar as interlocutors for the state with a view to preparing the ground for the country's partition. That it became very clear when Padgaonkar urged upon some students of Kashmir University to prepare a roadmap for Azaadi so that the same could be considered during his next visit to Kashmir. He had said so in October last. It also became quite evident when another interlocutor Radha Kumar told in Srinagar that she would ask the Government of India to amend the Indian Constitution so that the Azaadi demand was suitably accommodated. Everything was in public domain. They were roundly criticized in Jammu, in Ladakh and elsewhere in the country. A number of private TV news channels organized discussions on what Padgaonkar and Kumar had shamelessly said in Kashmir and most of the panelists were highly critical of Padgaonkar and Kumar.
That the Government of India neither removed Padgaonkar nor Kumar was a clear indication of the direction the state was heading towards. It was not for nothing that the Union Home Minister had swung solidly behind the interlocutors and defended them. Earlier, he and the Foreign Minister had defended the Chief Minister saying that what the Chief Minister had said on the floor of the assembly was absolutely correct. The Chief Minister had said the state had only acceded to and not merged with India. All these were indications indicating the resolve of the Government of India to handover Jammu and Kashmir to the separatists on a platter and befriend Pakistan.
All this only further emboldened the interlocutors like Padgaonkar. Hence, it is no wonder that he has condemned the BJP and its stand on hoisting of national flag. He has not only condemned the BJP, but he has also warned it that it should not "precipitate matters." It is highly disgusting. Who is this Padgaonkar? His provocative remarks and the stand of the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, the Governor, the Chief Minister and others of their ilk in the media and elsewhere could be construed as a positive development in the sense that it would surely agitate the nation as a whole. Let the powers-that-be at the Centre and in the state and their cronies like Padgaonkar do what they have been doing for quite sometime now. For, their negative attitude towards the national flag, nay Indian nationalism, would surely make the whole of the enraged nation strike back and defeat all the negative forces. Let them cross the Lakshman Rekha as Padgaonkar and others have done by denouncing those for their stand on national flag and Kashmir. The nation is taking cognizance of every development.
