Bhalla kicks off road widening, deep drain works

JAMMU, Jan 27: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said an effective monitoring mechanism have been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in the implementation of the developmental schemes adding that need for public involvement in the developmental activities, without their cooperation targeted concrete results on ground were not possible.
This was stated by the Minister after laying the foundation of 1300 meter long road widening and deep drain at Zubera Abad in Sunjwan, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 32 lakh. Bhalla said development of every sections of the society is the priority of coalition Government adding that numbers of development works are being executed in the PHE, PDD, R&B, healthcare and education sectors in the State for facilitating the people. Responding to the people’s demands, the Minister assured the people that all
their demands related to safe drinking water, installation of poles, regular power supply in metered areas and upgradation of transformer, blacktopping of roads would be addressed in a time bound manner. Later, the Minister also visited Doda migrant colony at Belicharana and inaugurated new Government Primary School Building costing Rs 7.50 lakh under Surva Shiksha Abhiyan 2009-10 scheme.
Addressing the gathering, Bhalla asked the parents to send their wards in schools so that they become a good citizen of the country. He said to eradicate illiteracy from every nook and corner of the State, the Government has opened and upgraded scores of schools in remote and far-off areas of the State.
He said a comprehensive plan is under active consideration in Roads and Buildings Ministry for construction of 15-km long alternate road connecting new fourth bridge Belicharana to Kunjwani for reducing the traffic congestion on Gandhi Nagar-Satwari road. The Minister also informed a comprehensive plan has been formulated for up-gradition and expansion of Jammu airport to provide all infrastructural facilities to the passengers.
