JAMMU, Jan 27: MR Club Raya today clinched the open volleyball tournament, organised on Republic Day by Sahyog Committee Bari Brahmana, near here today.
In the final, played this afternoon, MR Club Raya trounced Allah-A Club in straight sets 25-19, 25-21, 25-21.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Alha-A defeated Mahadev Club 25-18, 25-22, 25-18. Later, in the second semi-final, MR Club beat Pindi-A in straight but close sets of 26-24, 25-18, 25-23.
Today’s matches were officiated by Shashi Sharma, Uttam Sharma and Mulkh Raj.
In the final and prize distribution function, District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mubarak Singh was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes.
President Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir, Raj Daluja was guest of honour in the final. Among others present were members of Sahyog Committee, Ghulam Hazrat Ali, Rakesh Sambyal, Girdari Lal Sharma and Bhagwan Dass.
In all, 16 teams representing locals clubs participated in this two-day knock-out tournament.
