| Urdu dept organizes extension lecture | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu Jan 27: The department of Urdu, University of Jammu today organized an extension lecture. Prof Tuqeer Ahmed Khan from Delhi University was the key resource person while programme was presided over by HOD Urdu Prof Sohaib Inayat Malik. Prof M.A Wani and Dr Mohd Reyaz also graced the presidium.
The student’s scholars and faculty member also attended the program. The topic of the lecture was “Iqbal’s poet of universe’. Prof Tuqueer is detail threw light on various aspects of Allama Iqbal’s poetry. He informed that Iqbal had a great love for Kashmir. He was the advocate of National Integration is not true as Iqbal is a poet of universe. Prof Tuqueer Ahmed Khan further added that his early poetry indicates that he had a great lover of India and his first peetic collection is the example of that how much Iqbal loved India. In this connection Prof Tuqueer presented several verse of Iqbal’s poetry. He further added that Iqbal introduced Mark, Nitesey, Goite and others philosophers communal harmony. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Reyaz threw light on various philosophical thoughts in the poetry of Allama Iqbal.
In his presidential address, Prof Shohab Inayat Malik thanked Prof Tuqeer Ahmed Khan for enlightening student’s scholars and faculty members through his thought provoking lecture on Iqbal. He said that the lecture would definitely benefit the student of the department as Iqbal is being taught as a full paper in the post graduate level Prof MA Wani conducted the proceeding of the programme. He also presented a vote of thanks. This lecture was the part of the programme Bazyafat started of Urdu regarding development of Urdu language and literature.
