| Krishak Mitra launched | | | JAMMU | OV 9 ‘Krishak Mitra” a society dedicated to the cause of farming community and agriculture was launched here today. In a press release announcing the launch, Bharat Bhushan Gupta, former director of Agriculture and president of the Krishak Mitra said that the society would serve the problems being faced by them and would act as a catalyst to disseminate information on recommended technology for production, post harvest and management issues through interactive workshops, seminars, conferences, media campaign and other activities. The society aims at bringing the farmers, the media men and the scientists-technocrats on a single platform for the purpose. Gupta said that a majority of the population of the state depends for livelihood on agriculture and facing the dilemma of high cost of production and lower returns. He said, agriculture sector alone has a great potential for generation employment and income both. He hoed that the Krishak Mitra would provide the necessary fillip and provide a platform for the dialogue on the topical farming related issues in which eminent scientists, economist, technocrats, successful farmers amd media personalities would participate. A ad hoc body comprising S. Rattan Singh Gill as vice president, Chander Mohan Sharma as Secretary, K.K Sharma, Office Cum Press Secretary, Om Prakash Sharma as Treasurer, Kulbhusan Sharma, a progressive farmer, In charge Farmers cell and Sahil Gandotra, Dr. Rakesh Gupta and Faram Mohammad as executive members respectively to look after the activities.
