Govt launches ‘Maa Tujhe Salam” programme | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 27: On the occasion of 62nd Republic Day, the Government has launched a special programme for the benefit of pregnant women and children up to the age of 5 years. The prestigious programme namely “Maa Tujhe Salam” was announced by the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Sham Lal Sharma at Doda after hoisting the National Tricolor. The scheme is aimed at to provide free services to over 2 lakh pregnant women and 22 lakh children of the State every year. All primary and secondary level government institutions including Sub-Centres, Medical Aid Centres, Allopathic Dispensaries, Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres in the State will provide free medicare service to the pregnant women and children. The programme would also prove useful in reducing mortality and morbidity among the pregnant women and children across the State, the Minister asserted. The Minister apprised that this service would be in addition to the entitlements available under Janani Surkhsa Yojana (JSY) scheme, where under Rs 1400 in rural areas and Rs 1000 in urban is being paid to pregnant mothers for institutional deliveries. The scheme also offers Rs 1000 for referral transport for mother and sick child, besides Rs 600 incentives to ASHA for escorting the mother till delivery and Rs 1000 for “tracking the mother and and Child” for 18 months.
