| NC leaders express anguish over torture of ‘innocent’ person | | |
JAMMU | NOV 9 National Conference MLA’s Mushtaq Ahmed Bhukhari and Gh. Mohd. Jan and MLC M.R Qureshi, (Advocate) in a joint statement have criticized the healing touch policy of the coalition government. They said so called champions of raising voice against the human right violation are encouraging human right violation. This has caused major alienation among the common masses. Instead of hollow slogan of healing touch it has become wound touch. According to hand out issued by the NC party leader have expressed their anguish over the brutal torture of innocent civilian Ghulam Qadir in custody of Darhal police station in Rajouri District. They said rule of law ahs no supremacy over the system in Rajouri and the police is acting at eh whelms of the stiff coloured police officers. Those leaders who have asked the government to desist from violating human rights otherwise it becomes very difficult for the people of the district to face two swords, one of militant s an the other of police. The people of Darhal are peace loving and have never supported the militancy. The leaders in a statement have said when the chief minister of the state was delivering lecture in Rajouri this poor man was being brutally tortured in the police station for no fault. They demanded that chief minister should intervene and take stern action against the erring police officials and officers involved in this incident.
