MIET students certified at IBM Center of Excellence | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 28: Over a hundred final-year students of Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) were successfully certified in leading-edge technologies at the IBM Software Center of Excellence at MIET. The online certification test was conducted by IBM at MIET following two 5-day training workshops on DB2 9.7 (a Relational Database Management System) and RAD (the Rational Application Developer framework for JAVA development). MIET is the only institution in the State of J&K to have established the prestigious IBM Center of Excellence under a MoU signed between MIET and IBM. The center trains and certifies students totally free of cost. Out of the 110 students who received certificates, 30 have obtained dual certification, leading to the conferment of the IBM Blue Scholar tag to these students and making them eligible to participate in the IBM Students Opportunity System, which helps them find suitable placements. The final-year students belonging to the Computer Science, Information Technology and MCA departments expressed gratitude to the college management for arranging advanced value-added programmes for their benefit Chairman, MIER Group, Dr Arun Gupta congratulated the students and hoped that the extra industry-relevant skills acquired by the students would place them at an advantage over other students in the job market. Principal, MIET Prof S.K Sharma and Joint Director, Dr Ankur Gupta also congratulated the students on their achievement. The training and certification programme was coordinated under the supervision of Salim Qureshi, HoD, CSE, Sakeat Gandotra, faculty CSE and Ankita Aggarwal, In charge Center for Software Development at MIET.
