Fix fees of doctors at private nursing homes: HSS | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 28: Hindu Shiv Sena (HSS) today appealed the government to fix the fees charged by the doctors at private clinics and nursing homes in the city. HSS has alleged that patients are being charged heavy fees by the clinics which have become a major burden on the common man as they feel as if doctors are out to squeeze their resources. Addressing a press conference, Sena president Krishan Manhas said that most of the people who visit the nursing homes and private clinics have to pay money as per the wish of the doctors as there is no controlling mechanism in place for them. Manhas has suggested that government doctors should be allowed to have their private practice in Chopra Nursing Home (CNH) at the fixed rate of Rs.100 from each patient and the same should also be charged at private nursing homes. He said that the Government should fix the rates of AC rooms at Rs.400 and non-AC rooms at Rs.300 per day at private nursing homes as is being charged at Chopra Nursing Home. “It is poor people who have to face most of the problems as they have no money to pay the hefty amounts being charged by clinics”, he said. Manhas warned that if no action is taken, Sena will start a series of protests across the region as thousands of people are facing problems. He said that most of the government doctors are engaged in the private practice due to which the services at the government hospitals suffer.
