| NYWL hails appointment of Sofi as CIC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 28: Nav Yug Women Liberation (NYWL), a Non Government Organization (NGO) has expressed gratitude to SIC Selection panel including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and leader of opposition Mehbooba Mufti for appointing one of the most honest and senior most Income Tax officer G.R Sofi as the first Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of J&K.
In a statement, Sneh Lata, president NYWL ha s congratulated the government, citizens and RTI activists. She said, “Now the citizens will have the privilege to make people at the helm of affairs accountable”.
She also credited the RTI activists and termed the appointment of CIC as their victory. Lata urged upon the bureaucrats of the state to help the government in eradicating corruption and allow the citizens to exercise their constitutional right. She said elsewhere in the country the citizens were enjoying their right to ask, with the help of RTI they have successfully unearthed major scams. Sneh Lata requested the government to make state accountability commission re-functional.
