Thick security blanket vanishes after R-Day celebrations | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan28: Two days after the Republic day celebrations got over the thick security blanket has suddenly vanished from the city of temples and the tight vigil seems to have been compromised by the security forces. One reason for this laxity could be the fatigue factor and another reason which may have prompted immediate review is the over stretched number of para military troops deployed on the ground. Random checking of vehicles at check points across the city has stopped happening and no one on the road is taking keen interest in removing tinted sheets from cars not authorized to use one. The presence of security personnel at the various check points have also come down and few temporary ones have been completely lifted by the security forces in view of the incident free Republic day celebrations. A random survey on the city roads revealed very little or scarce presence of police personal manning the check points. The check point at the Ambedkar chowk has stopped conducting random checking of vehicles coming from the Narwal side and railway road, similarly the presence of police personnal at different check points such as Bikram Chowk, Dogra Chowk, Narwal and Gujjar Nagar,Janipur, Manda, Satwari,Gujjar Nagar bridge and near Tehsil office, Canal Road, Talab Tiloo has thinned. Barring Residency Road and Vivekanada Chowk the presence of patrolling policeman can no longer be seen on the city roads these days.
