Efforts of AIKS lauded | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU Jan 28 : In an executive committee meet of AIKS chaired by J L Pandita, the efforts of the AIKS, New Delhi was appreciated in which the members had moved to Supreme Court of India for the justice to Kashmiri Pandit community. Recently Supreme Court of India had asked the state government if it has given any house or shelter to any member of the exiled community so far in last twenty years of displacement. Addressing the gathering, J L Pandita said that it is an irony that in this free democratic and republic India, Kashmiri Pandits are living as exiles in their own country. More painful is that both state as well as the central governments has so far failed in addressing even the basic problems of the displaced lot. It is because of this failure of the government that AIKS has been approaching for the legal help to direct the government for early action on the grievances of the community. Addressing the meeting, Aryan Ramesh, organizing secretary AIKS appealed to the displaced community members to contact freely Jammu or Delhi' offices of AIKS if their land especially their temple land in their respective places stand encroached and have other problems like unsettlement of ex-gratia, insurance or if they face difficulties due to the draconian approach of the state government towards the community, so that after registering their grievances, a plan be chalked out to seek help of supreme court of India for action and compliance. He also appealed to the community youth not to fall in those activities that will add out ethnic cleansing. He also appealed to the community leaders who have influence on the younger generations to encourage the youth to preserve the Kashmiri language as preserving language is very necessary to preserve the community. Aryan Ramesh also informed about the future plans of AIKS like organizing socia-cultural and literary programmes during the current year.
