| Environmental awareness prog organised | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU Jan 28 : The Department of Environment and Remote Sensing organized an Environmental awareness programme at Environment Park Raika. Jammu, under the chairmanship of Ravi Kumar Kesar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, Director, Department of Environment and Remote Sensing (J&K).
Over 600 students of different schools viz, Govt. Hr.Sec. School Bahu Fort, Govt. Middle School, Oasim Nagar, Raika, Railway Colony, Ball Bharti (SOS) School, V.K.Survodhya and local habitants participated.
The students participated in essay writing, painting competitions. A symposium on Green House effects on the earth’s climate was also organised". A film on environmental issues was also screened for the children to add to their knowledge on latest environmental problems.
The Director of Environment and Remote Sensing in his speech gave a detailed prospective of present day environment scenario and emphasized upon gathering to protect the grown up trees and plant more and more trees whenever wherever possible to enlarge carbon bank of the country. V.K. Raina, Regional Director presided over the function.
In the symposium: Level I Class 9th to 12th : Lalita Sharma, Mehreen,Sabeena of Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Bahu Fort were adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Similarly in Level II Class 5th to 8th : Sonia, Govt. Middle School Oasim Nagar, Tilak Raj, Bal Bharti School and Rahul Gupta, V.K.Sarvodhiya School were declared 1st 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Essay Writing Competition : Level 1 : Neeha Sharma, Zoha Barkeat Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Bahu Fort, Kalyan Singh Bal Bharti School declared 1 st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, consolation prize won by Manoj Kumar of Bal Bharti School.
Level II :
Gudu Kumar V.K.Sarvodhiya School, Shahid Ahmed and Purnima Bal Bharti School declared 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, where as consolation prize won by Sahil Kumar of V.K.Sarvodhiya School.
Painting Competition:
Level I: Mohd. Younas Bal Bharti School, Pankaj) Govind Govt. Higher Secondary School, Bahu Fort were declared 1s\2nd and 3rd respectively, where as consolation prize won by Sanjay Kumar of Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Bahu Fort.
Level II : Vijay Kumar, Bal Bharti School, Arjun Singh Govt. Middle School Qasim Nagar, Pooja Kumari, Govt. Middle School Railway Colony declared 15\ 2nd and 3rd respectively, where as consolation prize won by Raveena of V.K. Sarvodhiya School.
K.K. Sharma, Divisional Manager Kartar Chand were the judges,. Irshad Masoom Mir Range Officer was the stage Secretary. Vote of thanks was given by Hency Gurtoo.
