‘Need for value based education to students’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JAN 28: Vice Chairman, OBC Advisory and Development Board, Kuldeep Verma has stressed the need for imparting value based education to the students so that they become good citizens of tomorrow. Verma was speaking at an impressive function organized by the Government Higher Secondary School, Chowki Chowra in Akhnoor block to celebrate its Annual Day event. Saying that co-curricular activities are imperative for the overall development of the students, Verma asked the teaching community to lay stress on extra activities and prepare them to compete in every field. He said that trends of the education have been changed and teachers should focus on achieving the excellence as per the changed world scenario. Appreciating the cultural bonanza presented by the school children on the occasion, the Vice Chairman said that there is no dearth of talent in the rural children provided they are nurtured well. He said that rural students are doing excellent work in the academic as well as sports activities and bringing laurels for the State. He gave Rs 5000 to the schoolchildren for their outstanding performance in the cultural items. He also gave away prizes to the students who excelled in different activities. Principal of the School read out the annual performance report of the school and apprised that school has secured excellent result in almost all the classes. He put forth various demands before the Vice Chairman for the development of the school. All sectoral officers of the Akhnoor block and thousands of students and local people were present on the occasion.
