Police prepare for biggest sports event | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 28: Jammu and Kashmir Police seem prepared for the biggest ever sports event being hosted by the belt force at State’s Winter Capital in March this year. At least 1500 athletes (both men and women), including those country’s top players, would be there to compete for top honours during the five-day 59th All India Police Meet for Weightlifting cluster to be held in Jammu from March two. “With a month’s time left for the biggest event hosted by J&K Police, almost 80 per cent of the arrangements have been finalized. All out efforts are being made at all levels to make the event a grand success,” Sports Officer of the J&K Police, Jameel told SAN. The wrestling cluster of the All India Police Meet included events of weightlifting (men and women), wrestling, judo, gymnastics and boxing (men and women). To raise competitive teams for improved performance, Police have already started special coaching camps for the competition ahead. “Since in gymnastics we don’t have any stake, special coaching sessions in other events of weightlifting, wrestling and boxing are underway at different venues under the guidance of experts in the field,” informed the Sports Officer. It is pertinent to mention here that J&K Police have a long list of achievements in the events of weightlifting and boxing.
