BJP to intensify its Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan agitation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 28: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) will intensify its Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan agitation in the coming days. The unfinished mission of abolition of separate flag and separate constitution still remains to be achieved and the party activists are committed to adopt all democratic means for the purpose, BJP state president, Shamsher Singh said while addressing a press conference here today. Singh said that the Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan agitation launched in 1953 will be intensified and the party will launch more agitational programmes in the coming days. He said the BJP cadres throughout the country have been agitating continuously to ensure that Jammu and Kashmir too has one flag, the tricolor, like other states of the country. Since Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, there is no need of a separate flag and separate constitution for this state. Congratulating the party activists for making Rashtriya Ekta Yatra successful, Manhas said that not even a single case of law and order problem or disturbance was witnessed in any state from where it passed but unfortunately the Jammu and Kashmir government adopted every suppressive measure not to allow the Yatra to enter the state from Lakhanpur under its appeasement policy towards separatists. He said despite heavy hurdles by the administration more than 5000 youth succeeded in reaching Jammu. Hundreds of them were beaten up mercilessly, arrested, treated in an inhuman way between January 23 and January 26 at different places in Jammu as well as Kashmir. He said BJP State Vice-president & senior leader from Kashmir Sofi Yousuf, along with 38 activists from Gujarat and other states were humiliated, tortured and sent to jail in Srinagar for none of their crime. He asked the Chief Minister to explain as to why a person carrying tiranga is treated as criminal by his government and one who throws shoe at him or indulges in stone-pelting is treated as an innocent. Why the people respecting the tiranga are put behind the bars while those burning it are treated as VIPs and provided security at the cost of hard earned Indian money. The BJP chief said that the NC-Congress coalition under Omar Abdullah crossed all limits of humanity when it picked up BJP State Working Committee member Haleema from Kashmir, tortured her, kept her in illegal custody at unknown destination and released her after five days and that to in unconscious condition and marks of burn injuries. He declared that the party will also approach Human Right Commission as well as the court against the brutalities and illegal confinement of party’s national, state leaders and youth activists. Professor Chaman Lal Gupta said that 8 BJP MLAs were stopped at Jammu Airport on January 25 from proceeding to Srinagar despite the fact that they had the valid air tickets like other passengers and declared that they will raise the issue in the coming session of assembly and adopt other options, including judiciary. He said the police picked up 14 youth on January 26 to shield the failure of the administration. These youth have been sent to jail for none other crime and it is the worst example of the approach of NC-Congress coalition towards the nationalist people. Ashok Khajuria charged the present Omar Abdullah led coalition for promoting the agenda of Syeed Ali Shah Geelani and other separatists in the state, which is against the interests of the nation as well as state.
