Natrang to premiere world classic comedy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 28: Hindustani adaptation of French playwright Moliere’s world famous Comedy ‘The Bourgeois Gentleman’ is being staged by Natrang, Jammu in the name of ‘Kava Chala Hans Ki Chaal’. This was informed by Natrang Director Balwant Thakur here today in a press briefing held at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu. The play has been sponsored by G.D. Goenka School Jammu and the entry to the show has been kept free. Minister for Tourism and Culture Mr. Nawang Ringin will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. Directed by Sumeet Sharma, a post-graduate in Dramatics, this globally acknowledged and all time contemporary comedy was written by Moliere in the year 1670 and the most praiseworthy feature is that the play is even more relevant in the present day situation. A beautiful satire on the overnight riches, the play revolves around a person who suddenly becomes rich and does all foolish things to be recognized at par with the so-called higher class. He applies himself to learning the gentlemanly arts of fencing, dancing, music and philosophy, despite his age; in doing so, he continually manages to make a fool of himself, to the disgust of his hired sycophants. The climax reaches when he is prompted to have a Royal Lady friend and for that he is befooled of his money to the maximum extent.
