Jaagar held for allegedly planning murder of witnesses | | | JAMMU: Naagar Singh alias Nago's brother Jaagar Singh was today arrested from the high court complex at Janipura here as he was alleged to have hired contract killers to eliminate witnesses in the Amandeep murder case. Nago, his son Jitender Singh alias Raja, ex-SSP Manohar Singh and Inspector Sultan Mirza were arrested and put in the Kot-Bhalwal jail for their alleged involvement in the murder of Amandeep. Jaagar too was held along with other murder accused, but was released on bail last year. Police sources said soon after he was bailed out, he allegedly hired eight criminals and divided them into two groups. Twenty lakh rupees were allegedly given to the criminals to kill witnesses in the murder case, the sources added. The witnesses who were alleged to be on the target of the contract killers included Amandeep's brother Sandeep Singh, cousin Tejpal Singh and uncle Sudershan Singh Wazir, a National Conference leader. The criminals -- Rakesh Kumar alias Giri, Yudhvir Singh alias Bablu, Sunny Baba and Sanjay Kumar -- formed one group. While Giri was killed in an alleged police encounter near Satyam Resorts on November 21 last year, Yudhvir was injured and held. Three members of the other group were apprehended by police on December 3 last. They included Suresh Kumar alias Tunda of Akhnoor, Akram Khan and Jitender Kumar alias Billoo, both residents of Nowshera. During their interrogation, police came to know that they had allegedly been tasked by Jaagar to kill witnesses in the Amandeep murder case. Based on the disclosure of the arrested criminals, the Chhani Himmat police today arrested Jaagar from the high court complex. |
