Is it illegal to hoist national flag: Thakur | Asks Centre, state to seek an apology to BJP workers | | Early Times Report new delhi, Jan 28: Lashing out at the Centre and state governments, BJP Yuva Morcha Chief Anurag Thakur, who led the Ekta Yatra, said that if an apology was not made for the alleged atrocities against the BJP youth wing workers, the party may take recourse to legal action. "This yatra does not end here. We will take it to the people across the country. The weak Prime Minister has sided with the separatists," Thakur said. He alleged JKLF Chief Yasin Malik was allowed to use his mobile, his supporters were offered cigarettes and tea by the police near Lal Chowk while BJP workers were brutally thrashed. The injured BJP workers were paraded in front of the media by the party which also showed photographs of these workers to the press. "Is it illegal to hoist the national flag? Is it a crime? The Jammu and Kashmir police should have provided us security and not used abusive language and used 3rd degree torture on us," Thakur said. He wondered if BJP workers should met out the same treatment to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah when he visits Delhi. He also alleged that Jammu and Kashmir Police had acted brutally against its workers who undertook the Ekta Yatra to hoist the national flag at Srinagar while giving soft treatment to separatist leaders like Yasin Malik. Meanwhile, Thakur denied the Ekta Yatra had created fissures among the people. |
