EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 29: Asserting that Government of India has already adopted a flexible approach for initiating a dialogue process to resolve Kashmir impasse, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad today called upon the separatists to shun the rigid and hard line path and accept centre's offer for talks.
"I request them (separatists) to show some flexibility in their attitude as it is high time to seize the opportunity and enter into a dialogue with Interlocutors. Even the Chief Interlocutor Dileep Padgaonkar has also remarked that anything will be meaningful only when the separatists come on board." Azad told reporters here today in the Meet the Press programme organised by Press Club of Jammu. Underlining the need for a positive response from Kashmiri hardliners to the dialogue process, Ghulam Nabi Azad said that their participation would certainly some meaningful results.
"The hardliners should read the writing on the wall. People in Kashmir are longing for a change. They want peace, prosperity, better road connectivity, water and redressal of other day to day problems besides employment." Azad said Union Health Minister further said that Kashmir problem is not a hundred percent political problem and economic factors are also involved in it.
"Political problems do arise due to economic issues. Kashmir problem has also some economic issues to deal with." he said Referring to the violent incidents in Egypt, Union Health Minister said it reminded him of the four months' long unrest in Kashmir last year. However, he expected that happiness right now prevailing in valley shall last for ever.
"The Kashmir problem can not be resolved overnight. It will take time. Hopefully, the peace prevails forever there." Azad said Responding to a query on corruption in the country, Azad said it is like the disease of cancer.
"While the virus of cancer affects an individual only, the cancer of corruption has an effect on the whole society. Cancer as a disease is less dangerous than corruption and we should remove it." Azad said adding he will be the happiest person when the black money deposited in Swiss bank will be brought back to India.
