KV appeals KP women to produce more children | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 30: Kashmira Vahini is going to organize a series of workshops in Jammu and other parts of country for making aware the Kashmiri Pandits regarding the dwindling population of the community. The first workshop of the series will be held in second week of March at Jammu where in young Kashmiri Pandit couples and would be couples will be invited to participate. In a press handout issued here today, the Kashmira Vahini said the issue confronting the community on demographic front will be discussed and debated in these workshops. The reasons of drop in birthrates which mainly contributed to this decline were “exodus and genocide of Kashmiri Pandit community from Kashmir”. Preserving gene pool of community and increasing the population will be the major issues of debate and discussion in these workshops. Numerical fall in population has contributed to a situation where the community has been marginalized by the political class of the nation. Kashmira Vahini appealed to Kashmiri Pandit women all over the globe that preserving the culture, language, heritage and passing the legacy to coming generations, the increase in population at the rate of 2% is imperative, this can be achieved only when the young Kashmiri Pandit women produce more than two children.
