| People hold protest against rising thefts in Chenani | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Udhampur, Jan 30: Expressing their resentment over the increasing motor vehicle thefts and police inaction against the burglars in Chenani area, the locals staged a strong protest.
After the series of Motor Vehicles were stolen from town with in a week’s time, a large number of local residents and businessmen after shutting their business took out protest rally and later held protest demonstration in the town.
The protesters also blocked Chenani - Sudh Mahdev road disrupting normal traffic for hours. Irked people also burnt the effigy of Police raising anti-police and anti MLA slogans alleging police have failed to control thefts in the area.
Speaking on the occasion, locals alleged that beside three vehicles thefts took place with in a week’s time but SHO and his team is clueless over the burglaries. They also alleged that crime rate in the
tehsil has increased due to wrong policing from past sometime and said that police have failed to strengthen relation with public resulting into such crimes .
Meanwhile, the motor vehicle theft is worrying the senior police officers, and they after taking serious note of it has directed Concerned SHO to make serious efforts to curb the menace by constituting special teams, for nabbing the gangsters behind the motor vehicle thefts.
