| Snow fest to promote adventure tourism organised | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Anantnag Jan 30: Keeping in view to promote adventure tourism in the state, Tourism department organized ‘Snow Festival’ at Pahalgam by hosting a series of adventure sports, including mountain cycle race and sledge ride.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Asgar Sammon inaugurated the festival. He was accompanied by District Commissioner Anantnag, Director Tourism and other officer of JKTDC.
Talking to media on the sidelines of the function, Asgar Samoon said, “the main objective to organize Snow festival,is to attract tourists from allover globe as tourism is backbone of the economy of Kashmir and can play a key roll is Peace process, as our mission is peace and prosperity in the valley.”
He believes, that the year 2011 is the year of peace and prosperity. He said that in this year all over development of the state will taken on priority bases.
Director Tourism said, “being winter a very lean period in the valley we utilize this lean period to promote winter tourism in Kashmir so that tourists can seen the white face of Kashmir as normally tourists are visiting Kashmir only in spring, summer and autumn.”
."Our aim is to project Phalgam ultimate tourist and winter sports destination in India. The response from leaders in tour and travel industry has been encouraging," said Director Tourism Department. Meanwhile, Pahagam Hotel owners Association has announced 50per cent discount during winter.
