Display your talent alumni fest concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU Jan 30: The three-day Display Your Talent Alumni Festival organised by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu in association with the “ Renaissance”- DYT Alumni Association concluded with the felicitation of the Alumni. Some scintillating cultural presentations and Sham-e-Ghazal wherein noted Ghazal Singer Dr Radhika Chopra and Jitendra Singh featured. Former Vice Chancellor, JU Prof M.R. Puri was the chief guest while Prof Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu presided over the function. Prof Y.R. Malhotra graced the Sham-e-Ghazal as the Chief Guest. Prof Puri was honored with the Life Time Achievement Award as this was Prof Puri’s brainchild who started the ‘Display Your Talent’ in 1982 when he was the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu and this contest is very popular amongst the students even after a span of 28 years. A hilarious play titled“ Anpadh’ on the theme of Adult Education was highlight of the programme with Superb acting by Dr Jagdish Mehra, Dr Yash Pal, Mahesh Khajuria, Dheeraj Jandyal, Sunil Kumar, Anuj Jamwal Nagar and Dr. Anuradha Pandoh. Vandana by Jasmeet Kour, ghazal dance wherin Anuradha Seth Kehle impressed the audience with the movements and expressions and Akash Chaman rendered the ghazal in her mellifluous voice, skit by Dr Arvinder Aman and Amandeep, Jugalbani on guitar and tabla by Vikas Nagr, Jasmeet Kour, Bindya Tikoo, Anuj Nagar, Chancahal Sharma, Tajinder Singh, Deep Suman, Sumit Sharma, Narinder Wazir, Manvir Singh Lalli, Sunil Kumar and Sanjay Nagar were highly appreciated. M.A Anasir welcomed the guests while Digvijay Singh presented the vote of thanks. The programme was compeered by Zulfkar Ahmed and Bindiya Tickoo. In the evening Radhika and Jitendra, spellbound the audience by presenting Ghazals in their sonorous voices. It may be mentioned here that the both the artists are born and brought up in Jammu. During their College Days both of them used to participate in the Inter- College Competitions under the ‘Display Your Talent’ represented the University in various Zonal and National Youth Festival and brought laurels the Institutions by winning number of prizes. Earlier Vijay Atri while presenting the profile of the Department of Students Welfare expressed gratitude to all the Deans and Directors of the Department who contributed to the Department for providing it a new fillip in their own ways. Among others Prof N.K Tripathi, Prof Versha Mehta, Prof V.K Kapoor, Prof Jasbir Singh, Dr Vishvaraksha, Dr Hema Gandotra and Dr Shaliendra Singh were also present on their occasion.
