Revocation of AFSPA political decision: Army | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT ANANTNAG, Jan 31: Stating that the Kashmir is a political issue, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Srinagar based 15 Corps Lieutenant General Atta Muhammad Hassnain today said that revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) was a political decision. “Army can only suggest and give advice, decision has to be taken by political leadership,” General Hasnain told reporters on the sidelines of a function here in Anantnag. He said that now-a-days there is no infiltration, but due to low snowfall on LOC there are huge chances of infiltration in next two months but he maintained that army is ready to counter any infiltration bid on border. He said decline in militancy related incidents cannot be termed as normalcy and militants have the potential to increase violence level anytime. However he said stability in Afghanistan and Pakistan can play a key role in curbing militancy and infiltration on LOC. On troop-cut, GoC said he Chief of the Army Staff has already in a statement said that this not right time for troop-cut and we should believe in it. He said the presence of army everywhere including in remotest areas of the state would be helpful for administration in executing developmental works. “Army is present everywhere and can suggest measures to local authorities for executing developmental works especially in far flung areas for maintenance and exuciation of law and order in the state, smoothly. Army will remain part of every developmental work,” he said adding army has decided to dedicate this year for the peace and prosperity of people. Some anti-nationals are using facebook, a social networking website and showing some video clips. “Facebook is power full tool of propaganda and perception,” he added.
