| Yaqoob, Adfar win titles in State Carrom | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Jan 31: Mohd Yaqoob and Adfar Jan of district Srinagar clinched senior boys and girls titles respectively in the State Carrom Championship which came to an end today at Indoor Sports Complex, here.
In the finals, played today, Yaqoob trounced Ishfaq Ahmad of Budgam while Adfar Jan defeated Adiya Mehraj of Baramulla in the girls section.
The junior girls’ title went to Insha Afzal of Pulwama who beat Lubna Ahad of Srinagar. Similarly, in boys section, Danish Majeed of Srinagar defeated M Umar Teli of Budgam.
In sub-junior boys final, Mohammad Saad of Srinagar outplayed Irfan Yaqoob of Baramulla.
Former Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Salman Sagar was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Member State Sports Council, B A Shah, Haji Abdul Qayoom (Sports Officer), Nuzhat Ara (manager), Firdous Ah. Khan (secretary J&K Carrom Association), Adil R Shah vice president and Reyaz Ahmad were among others present.
The chief guest congratulated the participants and the organizers for successful conduct of the event. Earlier, Association vice president, Adil Shah briefed the gathering about three day event. He said that about 100 boys and girls contested for the top honours in different age groups.

CADET BOYS: Momeen Sohail (Srinagar) beat Musaib (Baramulla). CADET GIRLS: Shahrul Bashir (Budgam) beat Mina (Anantnag). SUB-JUNIOR BOYS: Mohammad Saad (Srinagar) beat Irfan Yaqoob Baramullah. SUB-JUNIOR GIRLS: Sabreena (Budgam) beat Mehak (Srinagar). JUNIOR BOYS: Danish Majeed (Srinagar) beat M Umar Teli (Budgam). JUNIOR GIRLS: Insha Afzal (Pulwama) bt Lubna Ahad (Srinagar). SENIOR BOYS: Mohd Yaqoob (Srinagar) bt Ishfaq Ahmad (Budgam). SENIOR GIRLS: Adfar Jan (Srinagar) bt Adiya Mehraj (Baramulla).
