Estranged relationship leads to murder; lover among 4 held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 31: Working out the blind murder of a girl that took place at Chak Balotra near Ramgarh in Vijaypur, Samba, on January 19 night, police today said the gruesome killing was committed by her estranged lover after he came to know that she had a new boyfriend. The lover -- Raj Naryan alias Raju, son of Sagar Mal of Kullian, Akhnoor -- had been apprehended by police. His friends -- Avtar Sharma alias Kaka, son of Ajeet Raj Sharma of Kullian, Rakesh Kumar alias Keema, son of Bachiter Kumar of Jadh, and Raman -- who helped him after the murder, were also held. The body of Nisha Devi (22) of Chak Balotra was found lying in a village field on January 20 mornings. She worked in a beauty parlour. A cap, a pair of chappals, and a Nokia mobile (1210 series) battery shutter were recovered by police from near the body. There were nearly 10 stab wounds in her stomach and on the chest. As her stomach was cut almost completely, the intens-tines had come out. Speaking to reporters here today, SSP, Samba, Israr Ahmad Khan said the murder mystery was solved by a special police constituted by him. The team members included Vijaypur SDPO, DSP Popsy and Ramgarh police station SHO, Inspector KK Sharma, he added. While inquiring into the incident, the team came to know that the girl was seen by a milkman at about 4.30 pm on January 19 and by family friend Manohar Lal at about 6 pm. After that she was not seen by anybody, the SSP said. Though her brothers -- Kuldeep alias Deepa and Kamal-- and other family members searched for her, they cound not find any trace of her. The family came to know about her murder on January 20 morning, Khan informed. He said when police came to know that the girl had a love affair with Raju, who worked as conductor with Kamal's minibus, they started searching for him. Cops went his home at Kullian, but he could not be found. He was ultimately arrested by police from his hideout, the SSP said. adding he had been beaten by Nisha's mother Pushpa and brothers two to three times after they had come to know about his relationship with Nisha. He stopped coming to their house, but when he came to know that she had developed a new affair with one Davinder of Ramgarh, he made up his mind to teach her a lesson.On the fateful night, he called her to the village field with the promise of giving her a cellphone and a SIM. However, when she reached the field, he allegedly stabbed her to death.The SSP said police had also recovered the weapon of offence from him. After allegedly killing her, he reached 17 Miles Restaurant and took lift in a truck to reach the Jammu railway station. From there, he hired Raman's autoricksha for Shakti Nagar where Avtar and Rakesh already waited for him.They took him on the motorcycle of their employer Bupinder Singh to the latter's farm house at Jadh, Akhnoor.While alighting from the autoricksha, Raju had by mistake dropped his mobile on its back seat. The cellphone helped police in solving the case as it had the record of all calls made by him after Nisha's murder.The autoricksha driver was also called to the police station and put to sustained questioning.The SSP said all the acused were cooling their feet in the lock up. |
