JAMMU, Feb 1: Demanding an inquiry into illegal conversion of forest land for commercial purpose at Katra, MLA Reasi Baldev Raj Sharma alleged that the role of district administration is highly dubious in this regard.
Addressing a press conference here today, Baldev Raj said that the District Development Commissioner (DDC), Reasi P K Pole instead of taking timely cognizance of these blatantly violation has facilitated
Swaran Singh, owner of White Orchid Hotel at Katra for the construction of this luxurious hotel and that too on the forest land.
He said that there is a standing rule that no forest land can be converted for the public and commercial purpose. He alleged that Swaran Singh is a highly influential person, who fraudulently got
Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) of the state to build up the said Hotel as he does not belong to Jammu Kashmir State. Being afraid of losing the land after revelation of his being non-state subject, he maneuvered a sale deed to some known third party merely valuing it Rs 35 lac only while the market value of this land and hotel constructed is over Rs. 300 crores approximately, he added. He said that, he is approaching Chief Minister with all relevant information on this violation of land, PRC and many other things to rampant corruption. He appealed the State Vigilance Department to thoroughly investigate the matter and eradicate corruption in which administrators and others were also involved. He requested the Chief Minister to take stern and exemplary action against the law violators involved in this nexus.
