| 15 JAT organizes educational tour of Poonch student | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu Feb 1 : The 15th Ballalion, JAT Regiment organised an educational tour for the children of Poonch district to Gangtok, Siliguri, Darjeeling and Kolkata. The educational tour was flagged off today from Poonch by commander V.S. Shinavasa. During the flagging of ceremony, a cultural show was put up by the children participating in the tour.
The touring team consists of 23 schoolchildren of Government Boys High Secondary School, Mandi, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Chandak as well as Mandi will be accompanying the students.
The touring team will be interacting with Governor NN Vohra at Jammu on February 2 .
The children will be visiting Gangtok, Sillguri, Darjeeling and Kolkata during fifteen days tour from February 1 to Feb 14 during which they will visit a number of places of interest of educational as well as historic and scenic importance. Most of the children participating belong to poor families who could not have afford such a tour, on their own and neither haven’t they moved out of the state before. The children will also get an opportunity to meet and gain from MK Narayanan, Governor of West Bengal, Lt. Gen. Bikram Singh, GOC-in-C Eastern commended of Gen Vinod Bhatia, SM GOC, 33 Corps, Maj Gen SL Narasim, VSM GOC, 17 Mountain Division during the tour.
The army in form of an educational tour under Operation Sadbhavana has provided a unique opportunity for the children to get exposure to the environment and system existing of better developed regions of the country thereby expanding the base of their thought process vision and intellectual base.
