| Chib visits GB Panth, Lal Ded hospitals | | Reviews renovation, construction and availability of medical facilities | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Feb 1: Minister for Medical Education and Youth Services and Sports, R. S. Chib today conducted a surprise visit of G.B. Panth and Lal Ded Hospital and took stock of the repairs, renovation and construction works.
The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Meraj Ahmad Kakroo, acting Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar, Dr Muneer Ahmad Masoodi and other senior officers.
During his visit to G. B. Panth hospital, the Minister inspected repair work of wall going on in different wards and corridors, including hematology/Oncology and Pediatric etc. The Minister directed R&B engineers to complete the ongoing work immediately. Besides, he stressed for cleanliness of the wards and walls of the corridors and ensure sanitation of the hospital properly. On this occasion, he was informed that Rs 25 lakh out of Rs 40 lakh has been spent on these works. The Minister also interacted with some patients and enquired about the medicare facilities and medicines available in the hospital.
The Minister inspected the top floor of the hospital and taking a strong notice of illegal occupation of some rooms of the hospital and issued directions them to vacate the rooms within three days otherwise face legal action.
The Minister directed the hospital authorities to utilize these 32 rooms as paying wards and revenue would be expended on the welfare of the patients.
Later, the Minister also visited Lal Ded hospital and took stock of ongoing construction work of 565 bed of additional block. The Minister was informed that the ground floor of the newly under construction additional block will be completed by March 2011. He was also informed that Rs. 7 crore out of Rs. 40.25 crore has been spent on this building till now. He was also informed that the new block will have fully central heating facility including the facilities of latest fire fighting system, four operation theatres, ultra sound, Mini X-Ray block.
Chib also paid obeisance at Astan Aliya, Syed Yaqoob Sahab Sonwar.
Medical Superintendent, Dr. Kaiser Ahmad of G.B. Panth hospital and Medical Superintendent of Lal Ded Hospital, Dr. Mohammad Shafi were accompanying the Minister.
