PAC to examine land acquisition documents of Budgam | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 1:- Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Legislative Assembly has asked Revenue department to submit detailed information on slashing down the rates fixed by the Collector Land Acquisition, Budgam for 999 kanals and 136 sqft of land in Budgam. The Committee, which met here today under the chairmanship of MLA A. R. Veeri noted with concern the slashing down of rates for the land by the Administrative Department of Revenue which it observed has led to avoidable litigation resulting in the unnecessary expenditure of public money. The meeting observed that Administrative department of Revenue should not have cut down the rates drastically once the Collector had fixed the rates after examining sale deeds and other revenue records in detail. The Committee made the remarks while going through CAG’s audit report pertaining to revenue department for 2008-09.. Legislators, Ashok Kumar, Dr. Mohammad Shafi Wani, M. Y. Taing and Naresh Kumar Gupta besides Commissioner/Secretary, Industries and Commerce Umang Narula, Secretary, Revenue Ejaz Iqbal, District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Mohammad Rafi, Representative from J&K Accountant General’s Office, Director General, Accounts and Treasuries, Wali Mohammad Bhat, Director, Industries and Commerce, Kashmir K. Isfandyar Khan, Director, Industries and Commerce, Jammu, B. S. Dua, Managing Director, SIDCO and other senior concerned officers of Revenue, Industries and Commerce and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
