NCP pays homage to martyrs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 1: The State Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) organized a ‘Shardhanjali Samaroh’ to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and others martyrs of the nation at party headquarters here today. The programme was held under the chairmanship of former Minister and NCP chief Thakur Randhir Singh. Speaking on the occasion, Singh expressed his concern over rampant corruption everyday and exhorted that the best tribute to Gandhi and other martyrs at this point of time would be to work the revival of Gandhian values. Singh expressed his concern that many of the present day politicians claiming to be the followers of Gandhi are looting the country on Bapu’s name and called upon all right thinking people, intellectuals, media persons and youth in particulars to come on single platform to root out corruption and other mal practices. Singh demanded that all the present Chief-Ministers, Ministers, Ex-Ministers, MPs, legislatures, Ex-:Legislatures and politicians who are holding party posts with any party must declare their wealth every year, adding that ill gotten moveable and immoveable wealth need to be confiscated and action taken against the guilty. Referring to the apprehensions of Gandhiji about the misuse of party or political position in the post independent era, Randhir said that youth should form “Gandhi Brigades to fight the menace of rampart corruption among the politicians, Bureaucrats and contractors to clean society”.
