Two narco smugglers held with brown sugar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU Feb 1 : Two car-borne narcotic smugglers were today apprehended by police along with over 500 grams of brown sugar at Kangar, Bhalwal, about 12 km from here on the upper Akhnoor road. They were identified as Varinder Singh, son of Balwan Singh, and Kulwant Singh, son of Rattan Singh, both residents of Nanak Nagar. Both of them originally hail from Pangali in Khour, Akhnoor, according to police sources. Acting on a tip-off, a police party headed by SDPO, Akhnoor, DSP Mushtaq Choudhary and Gharota police station SHO, Inspector Bhushan Manhas laid a naka at Kangar. While checking vehicles, cops intercepted Indica car (JK02N/8801). Its thorough checking led them to the recovery a packet of half kilogram brown sugar, the sources added. The contraband and the car were then seized and Varinder and Kulwant arrested. The accused were cooling their feet in the lock up of Gharota police station. Sources said the contraband was being carried by them from Jammu to a border area of Akhnoor. A case under NDPS Act was registered against them at the Gharota police station. |
