| 2 burglars escape from police lock-up, 5 cops suspended | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI Feb 1: Five cops were today placed under suspension after two burglars escaped from the custody of city police post here Monday night. Police sources said two persons, who were taken into custody about two days back for their alleged involvement in some burglaries and lodged in the Rajouri city police post lock-up, escaped last night.
A departmental probe had been initiated against the police post incharge, Sub-Inspector Satish Raina, the sources added. It was, however, yet to be known if there was any police hand in their escape.
Taking a serious note of the incident, SSP Anand Jain ordered the suspension of five police personnel of the police post and ordered a departmental probe.
DSP (headquarters) Abdul Rouf Lone refused to give details of the incident but said police had launched a manhunt to nab the escaped accused. |
