| Dogri sanstha honours Sahitya Akademi awardee | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Feb 2: Dogri Sanstha felicitated well known Dogri writer Gianeshwar in a function held here today for having been awarded by Sahitya Akdemi, New Delhi for children’s literature in Dogri.
Gianeshwar is the first Dogri writer to win this prestigious award recently instituted by the Akademi for his book ‘Phi Keh Hoa’.
R.S. Chib, Minister for Medical and Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, was the Chief Guest who honoured the awardee.
A galaxy of writers, intellectuals and artistes was present in the function besides young students.
A new Dogri Sanstha publication ‘Dogri Gadya: Ik Parchol’ by Sushma Sharma and a couple of newly published issues of Nami-Chetna, a literary magazine of Dogri Sanstha, were also released on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Chib congratulated Gianeshwar for his achievement and lauded his effort to popularize Dogri among the young people by creating literature for children in Dogri.
He said that creating children literature is the most effective method of propagating Dogri and the author of such works deserves special appreciation.
He promised full help and support on his behalf and on behalf of Government to Dogri Sanstha in the construction of Dogri Bhavan Complex at Karan Nagar.
