Retired foresters hail Forest Policy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 2: All J&K Retired Foresters Association has hailed the new forest policy announced by the Forest Minister, Mian Altaf recently for Jammu and Kashmir. In a meeting held here today, M L Sharma, president of the association observed that with the depletion of forests, forest lands have become virtually no man’s land, without proper demarcation on ground and dilapidation of forest records. The meeting hoped that the policy regarding demarcation of forest land will be implemented both on ground and with preparation of forest records, using GPS and ETS as adopted by the Revenue department. The mutation of all the forest lands under the occupation of forest department since last bandobast needs be done immediately, with vacation of all encroachments, the association has stressed. The association further emphasize that the reconciliation of forest records with revenue records is long overdue and needs to be taken up immediately. The meeting was attended by Inderjeet Khajuria, S S Pathania, S K Sehgal, S N Khajuria, B L Sus, Bhagwan Das and Ajit Bahadur Sharma, all retired forest officers.
