Priorities development of Kandi areas of J&K: Omar
DDB meetings of Udhampur, Kathua

Jammu, Feb 2: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today reiterated government’s determination to seek equitable development of all regions and sub-regions in the state adding that a network of schemes and developmental projects has been launched in this connection across the State.
“Without any consideration of who represents which assembly constituency, coalition government pays equal attention to reach out to the people in all areas on development front”, he said and maintained that uniform development particularly in those areas which are left under developed is the focus in policy planning of his government.
Addressing the separate District Board meeting of Udhampur and Kathua districts here, Chief Minister said that remote, kandi and backward areas should receive priority attention for faster development.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister of State for Cooperatives, Dr. Manohar Lal, Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmad Khan, Advisors to the Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul and Devender Singh Rana, Member Parliament, Ch. Lal Singh, Vice Chairman, Pahari Development Board, Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari, Vice Chairman, Gujjar and Bakerwal Welfare Board, B. A. Naz, Legislators, Harshdev Singh, Balwant Singh Mankotia, K. C. Bhagat, Baldev Raj Sharma, Charanjeet Singh, Durga Dass, Jagdish Raj Sapolia, Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal, Principal Secretary, Planning and Development, Khursheed Ahmad Ganai, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, various administrative secretaries, Heads of the Departments and officers of the districts.
Speaking in the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister lauded the Chief Minister’s keen interest in monitoring the progress of works in each district and reviewing the status regularly.
Tara Chand laid stress on maintaining quality of works and asked the District Development Commissioners to make monitoring of works there regular feature. “You should constitute a team which would travel in all areas and inspect the works on ground”, Tara Chand who is also Chairman District Development Board, Udhampur, directed the DCs.
The Minister for Tourism, who is also Chairman of District Development Board, Kathua in his address to the meeting emphasized the need for redoubled efforts to realize the targets in full. In a power point presentation, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Udhampur Baseer Ahmad said that 83.93 percent achievement has been registered in the district in utilization of funds and completion of schemes under the current District Plan.
