Dogri writer honoured | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 2: Minister for Medical Education R. S. Chib today announced Rs. 5 lakh for the construction and development of building for Dogri Sanstha Jammu. This was announced by the Minister while addressing a function organized by Dogri Sanstha to honour Gianeshwar, a prominent Dogri writer. Gianeshwar an Engineer by profession was earlier hounoured by Sahitiya Academy for his literature written for children. He is the first person from the state who received this prestigious award for children’s’ literature. Appreciating the literary efforts of Gianeshwar, Minister said that he has not only brought Dogri literature in the limelight but also brought laurels to the state. He asked him to continue literary efforts in future, adding that writers play vital role in development, evolution and promotion of language. Chib assured to work for introducing Dogri language up to 5th standard as compulsory subject. Minister released two publications of Dogri Sanstha namely Dogri Gath, and Nami Chetna and Parchol of Dr. Sushma Sharma on the occasion. Minister Presented shawl and memento to Gianeshwar as token of respect. President, Dogri Sanstha Jammu, Prof. Lalit Magotra said that Sanstha established in 1947, will celebrate its foundation day on February 8. He also projected some demands including Library, multi-purpose hall, museum, reading room and display gallery in the premises of Sanstha. Among others, President, Dogri Sanstha Jammu, Prof. Lalit Magotra, Prof. Baldev Singh, Dr. Sushma Sharma, Dr. Shashi Pathania, galaxy of academicians, besides prominent citizens and students were also present on the occasion.
