Dharap village to have all modern facilities: Bhalla | Lays foundation of Rs. 2.79 cr dev works | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 2: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla on Wednesday laid foundation of Rs 1.95 crore Dharap Kothey Water Supply Scheme envisaging 50,000 gallon discharge capacity tubewell, 10,000 liter capacity overhead water storage tank, approach road and other civil works . The proposed scheme, on completion, would solve the water scarcity problem in Dharap, Dharap Kothey, Jogian Mohalla and Gujjar basti localities have a population of 6000 souls. Senior officers of RDD, PHE, R&B and PDD accompanied the Minister. Bhalla asked the PHE authorities to start digging as well as laying of water supply pipes in the villages at the earliest and complete the project by March 2011 so that the inhabitants do not face drinking water scarcity during summer season. Responding to the people’s demand, the Minister asked the homeless and those whose houses were partially damaged in last rainy season of the village to approach the Rural Development Department to seek relief under Indira Gandhi Awas Yojana and National Calamity Relief Fund. The Minister also asked the local representatives to prepare the list of the left out oldage, widow and physically challenged for submitting their forms for pension, . For construction of park along the local canal, Bhalla said Government is planning to beautify all the open spaces in twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar by developing recreational parks and gardens. He appealed the people not to encroach open spaces adding that Government is planning to construct public property there. He informed that the work on the Babliana-Dharap link road would be started after completing the tender formalities. Earlier, during his visit to K C Colony, Bhour Camp, Ward No. 1, Ryan Mohalla in Raipur Satwari, the Minister laid the foundation of various development works, including construction of irrigation channels, lanes, deep drains, road besides laying of water supply pipes in uncovered areas, involving an estimated cost of Rs 81 lakh. At Sumali Mohalla in Old Satwari, the Minister inspected the ongoing construction works of tube well and laying of water supply pipes in uncovered areas of the locality, for which Government has earmarked Rs 1.98 crore under Raipur-Satwari Water Supply Scheme.
